Taiwanese Sports Drinks Could Shrink your Balls
BEWARE! Taiwan has recalled several Taiwanese sport drinks, fruit juices and soft drinks that could harm the development of boys' testicles. The Philippine Food and Drug Administration has warned that that these drinks imported from Taipei may contain excessive amounts of DEHP.
Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, commonly abbreviated DEHP, is widely used as a plasticizer in manufacturing of articles made of PVC. Apparently some companies in Taiwan used DEHP, rather than more expensive palm oil, as clouding agents in products supplied to dozens of local drinks makers.
Taipei has warned Manila last week that DEHP could have been illegally added to food products that were exported to the Philippines.
